Two people were rescued at Irvine beach tonight after being cut off by the tide.
The pair were saved by the RNLI and Coastguard before receiving the attention of an ambulance crew earlier this evening.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "At 7.36pm on Sunday, February 11 2018, Troon inshore lifeboat was called into action after reports of two persons cut off by the tide near to the site of the Big Idea at Irvine.
"In almost freezing conditions, the shore crew assisted with the launch of the inshore lifeboat and once afloat the crew quickly located the casualties with the assistance of the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team.
"The casualties were recovered from the beach to the slipway and given initial Casualty Care by the lifeboat crew before they were passed into the care of the Coastguard Team to await the arrival of the Scottish Ambulance Service."
