AN IRVINE man is facing jail after abducting a woman and subjecting her to a brutal assault.

Craig Robertson was found guilty of abducting the woman and detaining her at a house in Montgomerie Street in Irvine on April 12, 2016, where he pushed, pulled, bit and kicked her, before finally robbing her.

Robertson, of Moorfoot Place, Bourtreehill, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week after bring found guilty by trial of the abduction.

The court heard that the 29-year-old abducted the terrified woman, detained her against her will before assaulting her, seizing her by the body, pushing and pulling her, forcing her to the floor and pinning her down.

Robertson also repeatedly bit the victim on the head and body as well as kicking her and robbing her of medication, the court heard.

The hearing was adjourned for the Sheriff to hear reports on Robertson.

He will appear before the court again next month to be sentenced.
