NICOLA Sturgeon has been voted Britain’s most influential woman, according to an online poll.

The Dreghorn-born First Minster was voted as the woman who has made the biggest impact on Britain in the Sky News poll.

The poll was conducted to mark the 100 year anniversary of UK women being given the right to vote.

The diverse list of 100 women included everyone from Queen Victoria to JK Rowling, as well as suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst, programming pioneer Ada Lovelace and pop stars like the Spice Girls.

Both SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon and MP Mhairi Black are among the top five. Others at the top of the list include the UK’s longest serving monarch Her Majesty The Queen, the country’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the ‘People’s Princess’ Diana, Princess of Wales.
