THE staff and patients at Crosshouse Hospital were just egg-static last week when intrepid Kilwinning charity man, Michael Kirkum, dropped off his latest donation.

Michael, along with son Michael Jr, collected a staggering 800 this year to give out to good causes ahead of Easter Sunday on April 1. And they could have gathered even more eggs had it not been for the bad weather.

The children’s wards at Crosshouse will share an ‘eggsellent’ 500 eggs, with local groups receiving some too before the final 100 will be donated to the North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Michael has a steady band of supporters and would like to pass on his thanks to Willie’s Barbers, Alec Burns, Ian Neil, David Granger, The Wee Shop, Aldo’s Chippy and Abbey Print.

He said: “A huge thanks to all for their support. Without them this would not have been possible, none of it could be done so I am very thankful.”
