A KILWINNING woman has received a funding boost for her social enterprise.
Tracy Gilmour received £5,000 towards her Warrior Mum Project, which recently opened in the town’s Main Street, which delivers eight-week programmes to parents, designed to help empower them to make a positive change.
The award was delivered by Firstport, Scotland’s start up social enterprise development agency.
On securing the funds Tracey Gilmour said: “I was delighted. It’s been an idea I’d had for a long time and to put it out there and have the idea recognised as viable was good, it’s very positive.
“I do programmes with primary schools and working with mums to shift their mindset and get them thinking about what they could be doing.
“It’s a social enterprise that tackles child poverty through empowerment and nurturing families, working with people affected by poverty to say ‘you’re the key to get yourself out this situation so how can we help you to do it’.
“It’s about getting the person and getting the most from them so that they can take control of their life.”
