A 14-year-old girl was rushed to hospital on Saturday after suspected ecstasy use.
Police confirmed that the teenager was in a critical condition and warned about the dangers of drugs.
In a statement, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Saturday 31 March, Police were informed of a 14-year-old girl in a critical condition at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock.
“One line of enquiry is that she may have taken some form of ecstasy tablet.
“We want to remind the public that any drug can be dangerous and that you are putting your health at risk if you do take anything unknown to you.
“Anyone who feels unwell, or knows anyone who appears unwell after taking these substances should seek medical treatment as soon as possible.”
