A KILWINNING teenager landed in the dock after taking retribution against a boy who allegedly sexually attacked a girl.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Sheriff John Montgomery at Ayr Sheriff Court last week after he admitted to assaulting the boy on April 2 on Main Street in Prestwick, giving him a ‘bloody nose’.

The court heard how a fight broke out between the two teens when a friend of the accused ran over to him ‘in tears’ claiming that she had been a victim of a sexual assault by the complainer.

Depute Fiscal, Amanda Allan, explained: “The accused and the complainer had been friends up until this incident – they are not friends anymore.

“They had been with a larger group and alcohol had been taken.

“A female friend was in tears claiming that she had been a victim of a sexual assault by the complainer.

“On hearing this, the accused who was intoxicated, confronted the complainer and a fight broke out.

“When the police arrived, the accused accepted that he had assaulted the complainer.”

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Colin Adams, said: “He pled guilty at the earliest opportunity by letter and I hope that he will have learned his lesson.”

Addressing the accused, Sheriff Montgomery, concluded: “I am going to defer sentence so that you can demonstrate to me that you can be of good behaviour.”

The sentence was deferred for the 16-year-old to be of good behaviour for six months.
