An off-licence boss who was convicted of assault failed to tell council officials about his crime.
Pirgin Singh, 51, who works at the Premier Irvine Late Shop, appeared before North Ayrshire Council’s licensing board on October 1.
Singh faced a hearing at Cunninghame House in the town to decide if he could still sell alcohol from the Bank Street business.
North Ayrshire area commander Brian Shaw said Mr Singh kicked a female on November 1, 2017. He also repeatedly shouted at another woman on the same date.
He pleaded guilty to the assault. And he also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, which would like cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.
His punishment was 100 hours of unpaid work, which he is completing.
Lawyer Simon Brown, representing Mr Singh, said: “There will be no difficulty. All the hours will be completed.
Licensing board chair Councillor Ronnie McNicol told Singh: “You are aware of the implications for failing to disclose convictions. You should have done it.”
Mr Singh replied: “I didn’t know.”
Councillor McNicol said: “If you have any convictions again you must inform the board right away.”
Irvine councillor Scott Gallacher said: “I know the shop quite well. I know it is well run.”
The board agreed to endorse his licence.
Councillor McNicol told him: “Don’t do it again.”
