An Irvine artist has donated a set of paintings to raise funds for a new safe haven for kids with cancer.

Pauline Tremble has created a selection of owl paintings to raise much needed funds for the Whiteley’s Retreat outside Ayr.

The facility has been to replace Malcolm Sargent House which closed down in 2016.

Pauline said she was honoured when Whiteley’s CEO Maxine Allan got in touch after seeing some of her work and asked her to get on board.

She said: “Whiteleys is a project close to my heart for several reasons.

“Maxine liked the owls and told me she had been trying to decide on a logo for the new retreat.

“Having been a regular volunteer face painter for Clic Sargent at Malcolm Sargent house I’ve seen first hand the effects of childhood cancer.

“I loved painting all the families that were there and we had lots of laughter as mum, dad, grans, grandpas and staff all got involved too.

“When Malcolm Sargent House closed down, I thought it was an impossible task for a  small group of volunteers to raise enough money to buy a replacement house.

“The volunteers led by Maxine Allan proved to be beyond inspiration. All totally selfless and unpaid, they have worked tirelessly for several years now to achieve the unachievable.

“Whiteleys Retreat officially opened to the first family last month and having visited it several times I wanted to do something to help.”

You can buy a print of one of Pauline’s paintings for a donation to her Just Giving page. Just include your details and Pauline will send you a print. All money raised from the campaign goes to Whiteley’s Retreat.
