A MAN described by a sheriff as having “a chequered history” has been given a second chance after breaching a bail condition.
Craig John Murphy, of Irvine, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court for sentencing, having previously pled.
Murphy had been granted bail from the court on May 8 with the condition that he did not enter Saltcoats or communicate with his mother.
He breached that condition on August 8 when he banged on his mum’s door in Saltcoats and asked to be let in.
She refused Murphy’s request as she was aware of the bail conditions. Murphy then attended Saltcoats Police Office and admitted the breach. He was arrested. Solicitor Jim Irvine said that his client had been complying with a Community Payback Order and that there had been “no other offending” since.
Sheriff Alistair Watson deferred sentence until January and called for reports, adding: “I can tell you now if you carry on complying with the order I’m not going to do anything terrible to you.”
