Police are appealing for information following two incidents which occurred in North Ayrshire on Monday, October 29.

At around 4.20pm a silver car was outside Kilwinning Fire Station in Stevenston Road when a black car appeared to deliberately ram into the back of it.

The front seat passenger of the silver car ran off from the scene.

The driver of the black car got out and smashed the window of the silver car before getting back into his vehicle and pursuing the man who had run away.

The man being chased had to jump over a wall to avoid being struck.

The black car collided with the wall before driving off from the scene at speed.

Later that night, at around 7.05pm police received a report of a number of men targeting a black car, which was within the B&Q car park in Kilwinning Road, Stevenston, with weapons.

The driver of the car managed to make off from the scene.

A black Jaguar was recovered within Eglinton Park in Kilwinning the following day on Tuesday, October 30.

It was noticeably damaged.

Detective Constable Jason Buxton from Saltcoats CID said: “The first incident is believed to have been a targeted attack on the front seat passenger of the silver vehicle, the make of which we still need to confirm, and I am appealing for this person to contact the police.

“Stevenston Road will have been busy with motorists at the time and I would ask anyone who witnessed what may have appeared to be a road rage incident to please get in touch. In particular I would urge any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case they have captured anything of significance to the investigation.

“At this time it has not been confirmed whether the second incident is definitely linked to the first incident, however this is a line of enquiry we are investigating.

“I would appeal to anyone who was within the B&Q car park around 7pm on Monday evening and noticed a group of men causing a disturbance, or anything at all suspicious, to contact the police.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Saltcoats CID via 101, quoting incident number 2799 of Monday 29 October 2018. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
