Tributes have been paid to a tragic Irvine woman found dead after being missing for a week.

Caroline McCafferty was reported missing on October 29.

Her body was found in a flat in Parterre one week later, on November 5.

As police struggle to determine how she died, friends of the 31-year-old paid tribute to her on social media.

Writing on her Facebook page pal Cheryl Landsborough wrote: “Fly High Caroline we had our ups and downs and plenty of laughs. Taken far too young GBNF Shine bright like a (diamond) huni”.

Another friend, Ellen Buchanan wrote “Caroline growing up we all had our ups downs n a lot of good times, taken so young GBNF Fly high Angel. Shine bright.”

Catherine Marren Watt Lappin wrote: “Caroline your sadly missed. Fly high angel xx”.

Robyn X Malmax wrote: “RIP Caroline. So gutted to hear this. God bless.”

Ayrshire Police say the investigation into Caroline’s disappearance and subsequent “unexplained” death is still ongoing.

A spokesman for Ayrshire Police said: “At around 8.50pm on Monday, November 5, 2018, the body of a woman was found within a house in Parterre, Irvine.

“Although formal identification has still to take place, the family of missing woman Caroline McCafferty has been informed.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however meantime police are treating the death as unexplained and police enquiries are continuing at this time.

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
