It's not long now until Irvine's big Christmas Lights Switch-on – the first in the town for four years.

Irvine Special Events Forum promise a great day out for all the family with plenty of entertainment for all ages taking to the stage.

The big event kicks off at 3:30pm on Sunday, December 2 on Irvine’s High Street with the lights expected to be switched on at 6.30pm.

Expected at the big event will be Love Island's Eyal Booker, taking over the reins from co-star Jack Fowler, while the award-winning Bev Lyons, showbiz reporter with Times sister paper the Evening Times, has been announced to host the switch on.

Also joining the fun will be North Ayrshire’s number one cruise ship crooner Murray Gee Mac, alongside his pal Harris McCoo, who will be looking forward to entertaining the crowds with their recent single.

Also announced to sing at the event is Scottish X Factor star Caitlyn Vanbeck.

Sylvia Mallinson, of the Irvine Special Events Forum, said the volunteers are all really looking forward to the day and can’t wait to see the town come together.

She said: “The lights this year are going to be a lot better than what they have been the last couple of years – but to be fair I don’t think that will be hard to beat.

“We started off this year without having any working lights at all, so we’ve tried our best to pull together and we’ve got lights that are going along the High Street, Bridgegate and something quite amazing for the Cross. It’s going to look a lot better than it has previously.

“I’m looking forward to the kids performing on the main stage, some of the dance schools as well as the drama lot – the kids are really excited.”

The day will also feature dancers, singers, and pipe bands performing.

The main stage to be located at Irvine Cross with funfair rides and other entertainment planned to go along Irvine’s High Street and Bank Street.

There will also be a Christmas fayre and Santa’s Grotto in the Volunteer Rooms.

If you would you like to book a table at the Christmas Fayre in the Volunteer Rooms tables cost £10 each and can be booked by calling 07747743360.
