Kilwinning Sports Club is hoping to get the green light for a hospitality suite and viewing deck.
The community club has submitted a planning application to North Ayrshire Council to transform a modular building into a brand new hospitality building.
They hope the Portakabin-style building would be club room with toilets, a kitchen and pantry and an outdoor viewing deck.
The plans were submitted by KSC Trustee Colin Boyd.
Colin, who is also chairman for Kilwinning Rangers, said: “I had previously, personally purchased this modular building for use at Abbey Park to replace the changing rooms there, but later found out that because the core material is wood, as soon as that comes in to contact with water or steam, it would degenerate too quickly.
“Rather than it go to waste I thought the sports club would be able to get some use out of it. “Atthe moment Kilwinning Sports Club plays host to some big cup ties but one of the things it is lacking is a hospitality-type facility. ”
The planning bid comes as the club announced it had secured verbal confirmation of £170,000 funding to replace defective astroturf on its pitches.
A spokesman for the club said: “The plan is the work will commence in March with July 1 handover date.”
