A woman has today been arrested in connection with the stabbing at Ailsa Hospital last month.
Cops said that they had arrested a 42-year-old woman and she is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court tomorrow.
A massive hunt was launched after the incident on Thursday, November 22 which left the hospital in lockdown but health chiefs revealed that CCTV hadn't worked at the hospital for a decade leaving police relying on dashcam footage from motorists.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 42-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident at Ailsa Hospital, Dalmellington Road, Ayr which occurred shortly after 10am on Thursday, November 22.
"A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal and she is expected to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 19 December 2018."
