THE Post Office are on the lookout for shops to join their team to adapt to the ‘competitive landscape and changing consumer trends’.

In a recent advertisement that was posted on their website, they asked for ‘successful retailers’ to expand their business with the Post Office - an opportunity which they say will give shops a ‘competitive edge’.

And they say there is no threat to the current main Post Office in Chapelwell Street despite advertising for new businesses to come on board.

They are looking for entrepreneurs with a vibrant retail business proposition in a convenient location who are community focussed and have space for a dedicated and modern space.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We are planning to open more of our smaller branches, primarily in urban areas, to help meet customer demand, offering people more flexible and convenient access to our services with longer opening hours.

“The competitive landscape and consumer trends are changing and we keep our network of branches under close review, so that we can adapt and develop to meet the needs of our customers, both personal and business.

“Our plans are centred on a successful mix of smaller Post Offices which offer our most frequently used services with convenient larger branches which additionally provide a few specialist services, and it’s business as usual at our Saltcoats branch. There is of course no ‘one size’ fits all approach - every community is different, and we very carefully assess the potential impact of any planned new branches on our existing network to ensure that our plans are beneficial for both our customers and our network.”
