A CHARITY netball match has managed to raise £1,400 for the Acute Stroke Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse.
Kilwinning Netball Club played against an all-male side comprised of members from Dual Fitness and Fit Ayrshire Dads after a few playful comments about netball being too slow a game.
However, the men were made to eat their words as the netball club ran out 72-7 winners on the day.
Frances Porter, Kilwinning Netball Club Chair said: “The game was great fun on the day – we hopefully showed the male players that netball is far quicker and more skilful than they thought!
“More importantly, we are delighted to have raised money for such a good cause.
“It allows us to say thank you to the doctors and nurses who work tirelessly to help and care for our loved ones.
“We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who turned out on the day to watch the match and to all those who made donations.”
