Police have arrested a man following reports of property being stolen from vehicles in Irvine on Christmas Eve.
The 41-year-old Irvine man was arrested and charged by police over the alleged theft of property from three vehicles between 4pm and 7.30pm on Monday, December 24.
He was also charged in relation to allegedly being in possession of a controlled drug believed to be cannabis and consuming alcohol in a public place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Thanks to the vigilance of local people and police being contacted immediately officers were able to attend this incident and find the man nearby.
"We continue to advise residents to ensure their vehicles are secure, that they leave no valuables on open display and that anyone witnessing suspicious activity contacts police immediately by calling 101 or if it’s an emergency by calling 999."
