An Irvine singing sensation paid a surprise visit to Castlepark Primary after stunning millions on The Voice.

Craig Forsyth stopped by his old school on Monday, where he told pupils about his TV appearance and encouraged them all to follow their dreams.

The 28-year-old also performed a rendition of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman, as well as Andy Williams’ the Impossible Dream.

Speaking to pupils, Craig Forsyth said: “So [Jennifer Hudson ] pressed the button and we had a chat about where we were going to take things from there.

“I’m now through to the battle round, which means I have to sing against someone on my own team. There’s a lot of good singers, so the competition is pretty high, but excited to get going with it.

“When I was at this school I always had a dream about being a nurse or being a singer. The way my life has panned out so far I work for the NHS as a nurse, but I always had the dream and ambition to be a singer.

“It took me a while to find myself and know what I wanted to do and what I wanted to sing. Eventually when I auditioned for The Voice and got a turn from Jennifer Hudson that was one of my biggest dreams.

“I really wanted to say to all of you that your dreams can come true, don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t dream.

“If you dream of being an astronaut, a singer, a model, whatever in the world you want to be, it’s not impossible. Don’t ever let anyone spoil your sparkle.”

Craig told the Times it was great to meet the pupils and catch up with teachers after the visit, adding: “I saw quite a few familiar dinner ladies’ faces as well, it was nice to catch up with them."

You can follow Craig’s progress when the battle rounds kick off by viewing The Voice at 8pm on STV on Saturdays.
