McBookie League Two

SALTCOATS VICTORIA 5

ARDEER THISTLE 0

FREE-scoring Seasiders will enjoy bragging rights over their rivals until they meet again as they racked up their biggest win of the season at Campbell Park.

They secured a deserved fourth victory of the campaign, taking them up to third bottom spot in League Two.

Vics bossed most of the match and will be hoping to build on this win during the remaining weeks of the season as they aim to improve their position.

There was a lively start to the game, with play moving from end-to--end.. However, after Saltcoats had hot the woodwork, the first goal was scored in 17 minutes by Trialist Chris Moulangou. Although Saltcoats had most of the ball for the rest of the first half it was 1-0 to Saltcoats at half time.

In 55 minutes the visitors were reduced to 10 men when former manager Del Gemmell was rightly red-carded for an appalling tackle which was correctly deemed violent conduct.

Some 20 minutes into the second half, the Seasiders' dominance was emphasised by the second goal from Harrison Elue.

Victoria's third goal came from Trialist Yusuf Bamba). The derby victory was sealed by two late goals from player / manager Evariste Bembo.

Although this was a game that Saltcoats deserved to win, it was at times a somewhat lousy affair with one red card for Ardeer and a flurry of yellow cards for both teams.

Thistle are undergoing a revamp under recently-appointed boss Paul Kellington but will be hurting after this loss and will be looking to make amends soon.
