NORTH Ayrshire Women’s Aid received a £2,500 donation to support those suffering domestic abuse.
Stagecoach raised £5,000 for the North and East Ayrshire charities after pledging to make a donation from every mobile bus ticket its customers purchased via its Bus App.
Each bus depot was asked to nominate a charity close to their hearts which included North Ayrshire Women’s Aid.
Sam Greer, Managing Director, Stagecoach West Scotland said: “We take great pride in being a community focused organisation. We’re delighted to be able to support local food and family support charities.”
Mary Beglan, North Ayrshire Women’s Aid’s chief officer said: “NAWA is truly grateful for the kind donation from Stagecoach customers. Domestic abuse affects thousands of women and children throughout Scotland and North Ayrshire remains higher than the national average in relation to domestic incidents. Through donations such as this we are able to reach out to more women and children."
