A KILWINNING community centre is celebrating after receiving a cash boost from a local supermarket.

Pryde The PLAYZ were delighted to be handed a cheque for £2,000 which will go towards running the centre which is in the heart of the Pennyburn community.

The cash was raised after the centre took part in the Tesco Bags of Help and came second, winning the cash prize.

A spokesman for PLAYZ said: “We would just like to say thank you to everyone that voted for Pryde The PLAYZ’s new high school youth group as part of Tesco, Bags of Help.

“We were awarded £2,000 on Friday Afternoon which will benefit the young people of the community greatly. Thanks everyone.”

The £2,000 cash award promises to benefit the young people of the community.

Through the scheme Tesco has helped more than 10,000 community projects which have been funded through Bags of Help, which uses the money raised from carrier bag sales to fund local groups, clubs and centres.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “It was a pleasure to go along to Pryde the PLYDE in Pennyburn and present William and Ann with a cheque for £2,000 from our Bags of help scheme, what a fantastic centre this is for the local community.”
