Police have been out and about in Kilwinning speaking with drivers to raise awareness on the town centre’s parking and road restrictions.
Following complaints officers will now be increasing town centre patrols and say they will be cracking down when necessary.
PC Michelle Thomson, Kilwinning Locality Policing Officer, said: “We have received a number of complaints from local residents, businesses and community groups with regard to the illegal and potentially dangerous driving of vehicles in the town centre area.
“Over the coming period we intend to increase our patrols within the town centre and will take enforcement action where necessary.
“We would appeal to drivers to check the signage and parking restrictions within the town centre to keep themselves and other road users safe.”
PC Thomson added: “We would also ask that drivers who are entitled to park on the Main Street ensure they are parked safely within a marked bay.”
Anyone with any specific concerns is asked to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 (in an emergency always dial 999) or to speak with officers on patrol.
