STEWARTON Academy pupils are heading to Turkey later this year – after winning a UK award for their Lego skills.

They took first place for Core Values in the UK and Ireland Lego League competition in Bristol last month.

The event saw more than 500 young people attending, who were all keen to demonstrate their skills in robotics, computer programming, teamwork, research, problem solving and communication.

Stewarton’s STEM Stormers went to Bristol having won the Ayrshire heats of the competition.

They did the school proud with their performance and will now represent the UK in the international finals.

Thanks also go to the team’s sponsors, Arnold Clark and Ikonicprint, for their support.
