Animal welfare officers are appealing for information after a cat was dumped near Ayr beach.
The young black cat, named Magic, was left abandoned inside a fabric bag on Monday, March 4 under a shelter near Ayr’s Seafield Road.
The Scottish SPCA is now appealing for information on who abandoned the cat in such a ‘deliberate and cruel’ way.
Scottish SPCA Ayr Rescue and Rehoming Centre manager Marion Hainey said: “This little cat is lucky she was discovered by a vigilant member of the public as she could have easily been missed.
“We are unsure how long she was left outside for and we are keen to find the person responsible for abandoning her in this deliberate and cruel way.
“Thankfully she doesn’t appear to have any signs of injury. She is currently being cared for by the staff at our centre in Ayr and has been affectionately named Magic.”
Abandoning an animal is a criminal offence. Anyone found guilty of doing so can be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
Anyone in the area who recognises Magic - or has any information on who may have abandoned her- is being urged to call the confidential animal helpline. The number is 03000 999 999.
