A fun-loving terrier had to be rescued after getting stuck down a rabbit hole on Irvine Beach.
The plucky pooch chased a rabbit into the sand dunes and down the burrow and was unable to get back out.
Rescuers from Coastwatch Irvine’s volunteer service as well as the Fire Brigade and police attended to rescue the stricken dog.
Fire crews, assisted by volunteers from Coastwatch managed to dig the hapless dog the hole to safety.
Anne Dunlop of Coastwatch, said: “Full marks to Coastwatch, the Police and Fire Brigade emergency services for their assistance.
“The wee dog was so delighted to be free that all he wanted to do was go chase rabbits again.”
