AN IRVINE soldier who was left gravely injured after a glass attack on the holiday resort of Magaluf has taken to social media to share the news that she is OK.

22-year-old Sarah Ann Garrity was named locally as the victim of the attack, which is said to have taken place at Banana's nightclub on the popular Magaluf strip and now she has written on Facebook to say she is alive.

She wrote: "I can’t reply to all the messages but I am alive and that’s all that matters."

We previously reported she was in a critical condition because she had lost a lot of blood but she was stabilised by paramedics and she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Son Espases where she is said to have had emergency surgery.

It is understood that a 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An Army spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident involving two off duty soldiers in Spain. An investigation by the local Spanish police is ongoing, and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
