Police have arrested and charged a man in relation to a recently reported fraud involving repair work at a domestic property in the Irvine area.

The 38-year-old man was arrested on Friday, April 12, and held in police custody to appear at court. A full report was sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for policing in North Ayrshire said: “Rogue traders and bogus callers often prey on the more vulnerable members of our communities.

“We are committed to tackling the issue and will work with our partners to bring scammers to justice.”

Last week Police Scotland launched the national Shut Out Scammers campaign to raise awareness of doorstep crime.

They revealed that in the last six months alone, people in Scotland had lost £421,000 to doorstep scammers.
