Greenwood Academy’s new head teacher enjoyed her first day at the school last week.
Ms Katy Hegarty has been announced as the new head teacher for Greenwood Academy after Christine McGuire retired after 14 years in the role.
Greenwood Academy head teacher Ms Katy Hegarty said: “I’m really looking forward to this exciting challenge. It’s obviously very early days and while I’m still getting to grips with all the new faces everyone has made me feel extremely welcome so far.
“My predecessor Christine McGuire was at the school for a number of years and did a fantastic job.
“It’s my job to build on the school’s existing success to ensure Greenwood continues to provide an inspiring and supportive environment which will allow our young people to thrive and achieve their potential.”
Katy Hegarty spent 16 years at Auchinleck Academy where she became Principle Teacher of Curriculum Support, PT of Maths and then Depute Head Teacher.
She spent the last four years as the head teacher at Stewarton Academy before taking up her new role at Greenwood Academy on 7 May.
