A twinkle-toed Irvine schoolgirl has been picked from thousands of dancers to appear in a production of Fame in London.

Aimee Robertson, 15, has won a coveted place as part of the production of Fame by the London Dance Company.

The St Matthew’s pupil will move to the capital in August for rehearsals, ahead of the show which starts on August 14 in the Leatherhead Theatre in London.

Aimee will join more than 100 cast members and a full professional production team for five performances over four nights of pure theatrical magic.

Aimee, who is a dancer with Janice Marshall Stage School, has already had a big year after serving as a Marymass Mary for 2018/2019.

The teenager landed the dance place after attending a workshop in Glasgow who sent her on a two-day audition in London and she got the gig.

Antonia Booth, owner of Janice Marshall Stage School said: “Once again one of our highly talented pupils has gained a prestigious opportunity to perform in a London Stage Production.

“We at JMSS wish Aimee all the success she deserves. Her talent has been evident throughout her many years at the stage school and we are sure this is the first step in making her dreams come true.”

Antonia says staff from the dance school will head to London to see Aimee, who has been performing with JMSS since she was three-years-old, make her big stage debut.

She added: “We can’t wait to see her shine bright like the star she is when we travel to London to see her perform.”
