A final farewell was said to the famous old football ground Abbey Park last Wednesday, writes Stewart McConnell.
Kilwinning Rangers had been playing there since 1929 but are now moving on to Kilwinning Sports Club in the summer.
However the occasion was marked with a decent game, in which the home side lost 1-0 to title favourites Auchinleck Talbot.
People turned out in good numbers although we did not see the emotion some expected.
Programmes were sold out but there were no souvenir hunters with spades looking to dig up some turf.
Youth team players formed a guard of honour to applaud the Buffs players off the park.
