A man has denied engaging in sexual activity on an Irvine train in front of children.

John Calderhead, 53, faced a charge of intentionally engaging in sexual activity in the presence of four females – two of whom were aged 12 and 13 – by repeatedly handling his private parts while making remarks about it on November 12, 2017 while on a train between Irvine and Johnstone.

Calderhead, of Ayr’s Mill Street, pled not guilty to the allegation when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, May 30.

The case was adjourned for reports and he will return to court at a later date.
