Kind-hearted Kilwinning students have donated £212.85 to North Ayrshire Foodbank.

The Access to Health and Social Care students from Ayrshire College campus raised the money through a cake sale and raffle, and collected food donations at the Kilwinning campus last month.

The students involved in the fundraising activity appealed to students and staff to donate what they could, highlighting the items that were required most, such as long-life milk, tins of food, and ready meals.

The students have now handed over the donation to North Ayrshire Foodbank, which will help local people in food crisis through the provision of a three-day supply of emergency food.

Student Jacqueline Cherry, said: “We know that there are a lot of families who rely on the foodbank, and had heard recently that supplies were so low they had to turn people away, so we really wanted to help.”

Foodbank representative Craig Crosthwaite, said: “We are grateful for this kind donation, and appreciate how hard the students worked to raise the money. It is donations like this that allow us to do what we do – providing essentials to those in most need.”
