An Irvine man is facing jail after terrorising his ex-girlfriend during a drunken rampage.

Kevin Russell stormed to his sister’s house in Dickson Drive in the early hours of May 14 this year and made threats.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard the 29-year-old, from Clark Drive, had separated from the victim after an eight-year relationship.

The fiscal depute told the court: “At about 1.30am on the Tuesday morning he went to the property and knocked on the door and began to shout “f*****g let me in”.

“The complainer didn’t want to let the accused in and was scared and shouted through the door he was not getting in and the accused began shouting “If you don’t let me in to see my wean I’m going to punch your c*** in”.

“Fearful of the accused’s behaviour she closed the curtains and he continued to shout and swear, insulting his sister saying ‘You are a fat w***e.’”

But Russell’s solicitor Jim Irvine told the court his client had gone to his sister’s address after “over thinking” some family business.

He said: “He had been drinking that night quite late and he was overthinking the position in relation to his mum and her care. He was unhappy because he thought his sister was misusing (his mother’s) benefits. He went to his sister’s address to discuss and did not expect his ex-partner to be there. When he realised she was there it became more of an argument between my client and his ex. He accepts what he did.”

Sheriff Michael Hanlon said: “He’s got a very bad record with domestic offences and a prison sentence is one of the options I am looking in to.”

Russell was refused bail and remanded in custody until next month.
