A teenager who punched his step-mum in the head has been given more time to behave.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week charged with assaulting the woman by pouring liquid over her head, before seizing her by the body, pulling her to the floor and repeatedly punching her in the head.
The teenager, of Kilwinning, was also charged with behaving in a threatening manner, causing fear and alarm by acting in an aggressive manner.
The boy admitted both offences which occurred on September 19 last year.
He was given a deferred sentence for good behaviour.
