An Irvine schoolgirl has been named Scotland’s ‘Little Champion’ at a star-studded awards bash.

Chloe Lennon won the Little Champion award at a glitzy ceremony held in the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel on Saturday night.

The youngster was one of three children from across the country named as Little Champions and mum Jade said she was bursting with pride.

She told the Times: “The night was amazing. Really well organised, and the kids in the little champion category were treated like royalty.

“They had a day out at Hamleys the week before, and given loads of presents, then more presents on the night as well as the award.

“Chloe was still dancing after midnight and we didn’t get home till after 1.30am.”

As well as taking home an award, Castlepark Primary pupil Chloe also got to mingle with celebrities including former Coronation Street star, Helen Flannagan, Love Island’s Laura Anderson, Emmerdale star Natalie Robb, newsreader Catriona Shearer and the cast of River City.

But Jade says Chloe only got star struck when she met her favourite Disney Princess, Belle, from Beauty and the Beast.

Jade added: “Chloe said her favourite part was getting to meet Belle, and she loves her award too. She’s got it placed front and centre of the living room just now.

“I’m just so proud of her, she handled the night really well.

“There were lots of different people coming up to Chloe, wanting to talk to her, get their picture taken with her etc.

“She took it all in her stride which isn’t easy for a six-year-old.

“I am a very, very proud mum, for her to just be nominated for the award was very special, let alone making it as a finalist and getting the award.”
