A DRIVER had a lucky escape after the car they were driving overturned on a busy Irvine roundabout.

The occupants of the black Nissan Qashqai walked away wothout any serious injuries after the collision on Long Drive, next to Stanecastle Roundabout at lunchtime today (Thursday, July 4).

Police and emergency services are attending the serious incident at Stanecastle Roundabout after reports that two cars had crashed just before 12.30pm.

Eyewitnesses say one car was flipped upside and a person lay on the road.

Officers the roads accessing the roundabout for almost two hours while they dealt with the incident. 

A police spokesman said: "At about 12.25pm police attended a crash in Long Drive, Irvine. 

"No one suffered any serious injuries. the road was closed while the vehicle was removed.

"The road was re-opened by 1.45pm."
