The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team are urging the public to leave inflatable toys at home when going to the coast.
It follows an incident last week which saw the team along with Ayr Coastguard and RNLI Troon Lifeboat respond to reports of a person being blown out to sea on an inflatable before it was confirmed the individual involved was safely ashore.
A spokesperson for Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Inflatables look like good fun, but they are designed for use in swimming pools under adult supervision, they are not designed for use at the coast or in the sea.
“It only takes a gentle offshore breeze or a small current to quickly find the safety of the shore getting further and further away.
“The best advice is just to leave them at home - it’s not worth the risk.”
