A CHARITY based in North Ayrshire which supports young carers has received a financial boost from a Scotland-wide community funding programme.
North Ayrshire Young Carers, has been awarded funding from Ross and Liddell through its annual community bursary scheme.
The charity operates in Irvine and Ardrossan and holds classes for both primary and secondary school children to give them a well-deserved break from their responsibilities.
The bursary will help the charity fund activities and days out for the young people who attend the groups. This Summer will see young carers enjoy a bowling trip and a day out to Edinburgh Zoo.
The Ayrshire organisation offers support, specialist information and advice for young people between the ages of eight and 18, who support family members whose life has been affected by a disability, physical or mental illness or alcohol and drug misuse.
