POLICE are hunting yobs who broke into the Portal last night.
The Irvine leisure centre’s front desk was still cordoned off behind police tape following the late night smash and grab.
The Times understands the safe was stolen during the raid.
Staff discovered the break in when they opened up first this this morning and immediately called police.
No one has been apprehended for the break-in yet and police are appealing for anyone with information to call 101.
A spokesman for Irvine police said: "About 6.40am on Thursday, August 22 police were called to reports of a break-in to the Townhouse/Portal, within Irvine Town Centre. Enquiries are ongoing at the locus at present."
