A woman suffered an alleged racist assault in an Irvine takeaway at the weekend.
The 29-year-old Kilwinning woman was punched by a blonde-haired woman in Taste of India on Friday evening.
The Times understands the woman had asked the victim ‘where she was born’ and ‘what country she came from’ before launching into the unprovoked attack.
A Police Spokesperson said: “At 9.15pm on Friday, August 23 a 29-year-old Kilwinning woman was assaulted within a fast food establishment on Bank Street, Irvine.
“She did not require medical attention.
“Enquiries are ongoing in an attempt to identify the person responsible.”
