History buffs brave the bad weather for Marymass kirkyard tours
RESIDENTS enjoyed the recent annual graveyard tours as part of the Marymass Festival hosted by Irvine Times Kirkyard Correspondent Billy Kerr.
In Irvine Old Parish Kirkyard are many ancient memorials that display symbols of occupations times past, with Irvine history buff and Weaver Billy Kerr explaining the lost meaning of these remarkable symbols and gravestones.
The free Irvine Incorporated Trades heritage tours began at front gates of the kirkyard during Marymass Festival.
And despite the bad weather, several brave souls turned out to learn more of the town’s history on the rainier days.
Thanks to Billy Kerr and everyone who went along to support the annual Marymass event.
