A KILWINNING teenager has donated £2,000 to the NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Community Eating Disorder Service in Irvine.

Becky Heaney raised the sum with a mud run, bag packing and an Easter fete.

The 17-year-old wanted to give something back to the service that had helped her on the road to recovery, after she received treatment for anorexia nervosa.

Charge Nurse Julia Coppola said: “We are incredibly grateful to Becky. She has made this kind-spirited gesture after experiencing the specialist care on offer here first hand. This donation will go toward furthering the excellent work carried out by our dedicated staff.”

Dietician Julie Laing added: “Our team work together to assess and treat people who have been diagnosed with anorexia or bulimia. We provide intensive support for people and their families when it is most needed. Becky is an inspirational person and we are delighted to receive this fantastic donation.”

Becky said: “I’m very happy to have helped raise this money for the service and the two Julies, they are absolute angels.”
