Pupils at Garnock Community Campus can do their bit for the planet and save money with the school’s new uniform recycling scheme.

Garnock is the latest North Ayrshire school to offer the recycling service, where items can be swapped, bought for a reduced price or obtained for free.

The uniform station stocks a range of primary and senior uniforms, gym kits and school shoes. There are also bags and wellington boots.

Councillor John Bell, Cabinet Member for Education at North Ayrshire Council, said: “Children grow so quickly, and replacing uniform items can really add to the cost of the school year.

“Uniform recycling or swapping is a fantastic way for families to save on the expense of buying new items throughout the year, as well as saving clothes which are in good condition from going to landfill.”

Most North Ayrshire schools will accept donations of the following items which are in decent condition: dresses, sports kit, trainers, shoes, jumpers, skirts, shirts, blazers, coats, polo shirts and trousers.
