Footballer Jim Stewart was the latest guest at Irvine’s Wednesday Club, where he spoke about his career to 50 members.

Jim started his senior career with Kilmarnock before moving to Middlesbrough. He then joined Rangers in 1980, where he would make more than 100 first-team appearances.

The social club, which meets at 2pm on Wednesdays at Meadow Park, is are open to all football fans – with Vics, Buffs, Ladeside, Killie, Ayr Utd, Rangers, Celtic and Motherwell fans making up the membership.

The club’s next guest speaker is former Buffs manager Jim McSherry this Wednesday, with journalist John Miller also lined up to visit Meadow Park soon.
