Kilwinning town centre will get lit up for Christmas on Thursday, November 21 and everyone’s invited to enjoy a great night out with the family.

After the success of last year’s vote, where Wee Warrior Kieran Crichton was chosen to light up the town, organisers received 22 nominations this year.

Promoting Kilwinning are currently running a live Facebook poll and will announce the people’s choice soon.

The event will start at 4.30pm with entertainment on the main stage, community stalls and children’s rides on the Main Street and fairground rides in the Car park.

The switch on has been delayed to 7pm this year, to allow for more families to get home from work and attend the event.

The entertainment will include singers, Dance Depot display, Puppet show, Christmas Carol singing and local band Optimistic Pessimist.

This year organisers have introduced the Kilwinning Christmas Elf, which is displayed in many shops on Kilwinning Main Street, supporting businesses, schools and community groups around Kilwinning.

Each shop on the Main Street will have their own Elf, so collect all the Elf names and bring your answers to the stage on the night for the chance to win some prizes.

Remember to put your details on your entry. Entry is free and a list will be posted on Facebook of all the shops where to get the Elf names.

This year, organisers raised funds for a real Christmas tree with new lights in Kilwinning. You can show your support by purchasing Kilwinning Christmas Elf window stickers from businesses in Kilwinning Main Street, where you see the Elf in the window. The stickers cost £3 each. When you purchase your sticker, please show your support #kilwinningchristmaslights and #promotingkilwinning on Twitter and Facebook.
