AN IRVINE apprentice is among the finalists for a top national award.

Now in its 18th year, the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards bring together apprentices, employers and learning providers to celebrate the contributions apprenticeships make to the economy.

Irvine’s Jordan Fairlamb is a finalist in the Modern Apprentice of the Year SCQF Level 6 category, which is in partnership with J.P. Morgan.

Jordan works at Dawnfresh Seafoods, in Uddingston, Lanarkshire.

Verity Ross, from Stewarton, is a contender in the Apprentice Ambassador of the Year category, which is in partnership with QA Apprenticeships. Verity, aged 20, is a customer experience analyst at Zurich Insurance in Glasgow.

Finalists will travel to the awards on November 7 in Dundee’s Caird Hall.

Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills Jamie Hepburn said: “The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards are a chance to celebrate the achievements of apprentices and the commitment of employers to developing their workforce.”
