Kilwinning has achieved its renewal as a fairtrade town.
Promoting Kilwinning announced the achievement at their annual Remembrance Sunday Reception on Sunday November 10th, 2019 in the Old Parish Church Hall.
The renewal Certificate was presented to Kilwinning Community Council Chairman Colin Hedley and North Ayrshire Council leader, Joe Cullinane by Promoting Kilwinning Chair, Blair Kerr and PK Fairtrade Representative, Joe Broussard.
The Certificate included a letter of Congratulations from Chrysi Dimaki, FT Foundation, Communities Campaigns Officer.
Joe Broussard thanked everyone who assisted Promoting Kilwinning in supporting Fairtrade including all the primary schools who are achieving “FairAchiever” status. Joe also congratulated local businesses who are showing an increased interest and support for Fairtrade.
Chair Blair Kerr reminded everyone the ethos of Fairtrade also includes ‘shopping local’. Promoting Kilwinning recently redesigned Kilwinning Fairtrade banners in partnership with Choose Kilwinning and Kilwinning business Group to emphasize the importance of supporting all the local businesses who are supporting Kilwinning.
