SPRINGSIDE Primary plans to extend its nursery to help cope with increased early years provision.

Plans were submitted to build an extension to its early years nursery, which will include a new play area with canopy – with children entitled to receive 1,140 hours of funded early learning and childcare per year from August 2020.

The school plans to relocate the existing nursery into another area of the school with a new purposed built extension.

Proposals state this will allow for the existing space to be given back to the school for use and create a new, clear and separate entrance to the nursery.

There will also be new toilets and a new secure cloakroom – with the nursery children currently sharing with the primary school pupils. Plans also include a new dedicated outdoor secure play area and a covered outdoor play canopy space.

There will also be a new room to be used on a flexible basis as a GP, lunch and parent’s room close to the new entrance.

Planning documents state: “Through internal alterations and a new extension it will mean necessary nursery accommodation is provided.”
