Tributes have been paid to a man whose body was found in the River Irvine.

Billy Lundy was found dead in a stretch of Annick Water, which runs between Sillars Meadow and the Riverside Hotel on Wednesday, November 27.

Family and friends have been left shocked and distraught at news of the 41-year-old’s tragic death and paid tribute to him on social media.

Billy’s cousin Diane Kirkpatrick said: “We really do live in the cruellest world don’t we? RIP Billy, fly high you will never be far from my thoughts. Rest easy cuz.”

Claire Kirkpatrick said: “He was an absolute gem.”

Heather Martin said: “So sad fly high Billy. Gbnf thinking of the family at this sad time.”

Julie Christine Howard said: “Aww god bless him, fly high Billy pal.”

Lynsey McCready said: “They’re a loving family and have been through so much heartache.”
Jason Donnelly said: “Deffo one we will never forget. Heart of gold and a true Winton warrior.”

A police probe into Billy’s death has revealed there are no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a 41-year-old man was discovered in the River Irvine near Sillars Meadow in Irvine at 9.20am on Wednesday, November 27.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious.”
